About coaching
What is coaching and how is it different from therapy?
Coaching is a structured, future-focused process that helps you clarify goals, build skills and move forward, while therapy is a clinical treatment for mental health conditions.
At Palakkad Counselling we offer coaching, guidance and mediation. When clinical care is needed, we refer you to trusted specialists.
What is the difference between coaching, counselling, psychotherapy and psychiatry?
A coach helps you build skills and reach goals, a counsellor helps you talk through personal concerns, a psychotherapist works with diagnosed mental health conditions, and a psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe medicine.
Palakkad Counselling offers coaching and mediation. When a clinical professional is needed, we refer you to one.
Who will I work with?
You may work with our founder, Prof. Dr. Regunath Parakkal, or one of our visiting professionals.
We match you after a short first conversation, based on your needs, language and availability.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your goals and how you progress, so there is no fixed number.
Many clients notice clarity within a few sessions. We review progress with you and agree the next step together.
Confidentiality & privacy
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Sessions are private.
We share nothing without your consent, except where there is a risk of serious harm or where disclosure is required by law.
Will anyone know I came to you?
No, unless you tell them or ask us to involve them.
We do not contact family, schools, employers or anyone else without your permission, and your appointment details stay with us.
What data do you collect about me?
Only what we need to contact you and support your session, such as your name, phone number and the service you choose.
We do not collect sensitive personal details through website forms. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Sessions & booking
How do I book a session?
Call or WhatsApp us on +91 94470 83118, or use the booking form on this website.
We will confirm a suitable time with you. Sessions are by prior appointment.
Can I visit without an appointment?
No. All sessions are by prior appointment so that we can give you full privacy and attention.
Message or call us and we will find a time that suits you.
I live outside Palakkad, or outside India. Can I still work with you?
Yes. We offer sessions online by video or by phone for clients across India and abroad.
See our Online Sessions page for how times are arranged across time zones.
Which languages do you work in?
Malayalam, English, Tamil and Hindi.
Please tell us your preference when you book and we will match you accordingly.
Can I come with my partner or family member?
Yes. Many sessions are held with couples or with the whole family.
Individual sessions are also available. Tell us when you book who will attend.
How much does a session cost?
Fees depend on the service and the session format. Please call or WhatsApp us and we will share the details.
We keep pricing clear and transparent, and you will know the fee before you confirm.
Children & families
Do you work with children and teenagers?
Yes. We support children, teenagers, parents and families through coaching and parent guidance.
For younger children we usually involve a parent or caregiver in planning the sessions.
Will you tell my parents what I say?
A teenager's session is private, and we do not repeat session content without the young person's agreement.
The exception is risk of serious harm or where disclosure is required by law. We explain these limits clearly at the start, and we encourage young people to involve a trusted adult.
Mediation
Is mediation the same as going to court?
No. Mediation is a voluntary, confidential process where a trained neutral professional helps people in dispute reach their own agreement.
It is not a court proceeding, not legal advice and not therapy. You may still seek legal advice at any time.
Is a mediated agreement legally binding?
A mediated agreement is an agreement the parties make themselves, and its legal effect depends on how it is documented and on the law that applies.
We explain the options clearly, and we encourage each party to take independent legal advice before signing anything.
Schools & organisations
Can schools, colleges or companies request programmes?
Yes. We have delivered over 17,000 awareness sessions for schools, colleges and organisations.
Contact us with your audience and goals, and we will propose a suitable format and duration.
Location & safety
Where are you located?
Siv Gung, Chittoor Road, near Post Office, Manapullikavu, Palakkad, Keralam 678013.
Landmark: Behind One Home Super Market, Near Manappullikkavu Temple. Sessions are in person, online or by phone, by prior appointment.
What should I do in an emergency?
Palakkad Counselling is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger or thinking of self-harm, call 112, Tele-MANAS on 14416, or Kerala's DISHA helpline on 1056, or go to the nearest hospital.
Children in distress can call Childline on 1098. Please reach out now rather than waiting for a session.
Still Have Questions?
